Kicked in the Face and Starving!
This scared little boy is Joshua. He’s only about 9 months old, but life has not been kind to him. When we first took him in, we thought he had been involved in an RTA. His jaw was fractured, and he was struggling to eat. We are not sure how long he had lived like that, but he was very thin and very frightened. Our vet examined him and determined that he had actually been kicked as there was none of the signs usually indicating a vehicle collision.
Joshua underwent a long and difficult surgery which involved 2 of his teeth removing and his fractured jaw held in place with wire. A feeding tube was put in place, and he came back to the rescue with a lot of medication to keep him comfortable and to control infection.
It will be a long, slow process for Joshua. Not only to heal his body, but to learn that not all humans mean him harm.
As he heals, he will need a further dental, but this cannot happen until his jaw is stronger. There is also a chance that he doesn’t heal as well as we hope, and that he will need to see a referral vet for further treatment.
Please please consider a donation to help with Joshua’s veterinary costs. Donations can be made through this website or via our Facebook page. Alternatively, contact us for details of our vet account, so you can support him this way.
