Charlie

Male

DOB: 25/06/2016

Charlie is a lovely, affectionate boy who is starting to enjoy his quieter, more relaxed years and is really hoping that his next home will be his forever home.

Charlie has had a bit of a complicated time. He has previously been rehomed twice, but sadly both homes ended because he didn’t get along with the resident cats. For this reason, Charlie would be happiest as an only cat, where he can have all the attention to himself.

Charlie has megacolon and has had his tail amputated as part of managing his condition. He also has several food allergies and needs to stay on a specific diet. It’s not necessarily his favourite food in the world, but despite this he actually manages his weight really well!

He’s also recently started B12 injections, which are now part of his ongoing care. His new family will be fully informed about his treatment and any ongoing veterinary needs.

He’s a lovely boy who still has a playful side, but he’s definitely becoming more of a professional lounger these days. He loves finding a sunny spot, curling up somewhere cosy and generally enjoying the good life.

Charlie is affectionate, but he does have a wonderfully cheeky side. He is very good at rolling onto his back looking ridiculously cute and inviting you to rub his tummy, only to suddenly decide that your hand is actually his new enemy! So please don’t be completely fooled by the adorable belly display. He has his boundaries and is quite happy to let you know about them.

Charlie would suit someone who understands cats and is happy to give him affection on his terms, while also being comfortable managing his dietary and health needs.

After having two homes that haven’t worked out, we’d really love to find Charlie somewhere he can finally settle down and know that he’s home for good.

Charlie needs an indoor-only home. A secure catio or enclosed garden would be a lovely bonus, but isn’t essential.

As with all of our cats, Charlie will leave Farplace castrated, microchipped and vaccinated, with his flea and worm treatment up to date, and following a full health check.

We’ll also provide you with a full copy of his veterinary records to keep for your own records when he goes off to his new home.

Indoor-only policy

Our cats are rehomed as indoor-only cats. We know this is different from how cats were traditionally kept, but we believe keeping them indoors is the safest option for both cats and wildlife.

There are lots of risks associated with allowing cats to roam, including traffic, disease, theft, poisoning and conflict with neighbours. As a rescue that also cares for injured wildlife, we also feel strongly about reducing the impact domestic cats can have on local wildlife.

A secure catio or enclosed garden is always a wonderful addition, but it isn’t essential.

If you feel you could offer this lovely cat the right home, please email adoptions@farplace.org.uk for an adoption questionnaire. We can then arrange a home check.

We are happy to consider homes up to around two hours’ travel from the rescue. Any further than this can make it difficult for us to offer the support we feel is important after adoption. We hope you understand.

Farplace Animal Rescue is based in Weardale, County Durham, DL13 1LE.

We don’t have a fixed adoption fee, but we do ask for a donation towards the ongoing care of the animals at Farplace.

Please note: Farplace Animal Rescue is not open to the public.

We have a policy of checking potential homes prior to adoption.
This is to protect the animals we have rescued, and to offer advice and support. Check Our Adoption Policy
