Six Dinner Sid needs Support
Published: 12 July 2020
Six Dinner Sid was abandoned some years ago when his owner moved house and left him to fend for himself. Over the years, he learned to survive by calling in at a variety of homes in the village, where he had as many dinners as he wanted. His well-wishers each called him a different name, but he gained his nickname from his uncanny ability to find a dinner any time he was hungry. He was out in all weathers, in all seasons, for years, and became a well-loved member of the community in the little dales village he called home. Then one day recently he got hurt. He tried to carry on, but his leg hurt him so very much, that he struggled to get round all his homes to get his 6 dinners. He was spotted struggling by one of his feeders – but because he was hurting, he would let no one near enough to help him, so they asked us for help. It took several days, but at last he was trapped in one of our humane cat traps and brought into our care. He was seen by our vet within hours of arrival, where he was found to have a dislocated right hip, along with a few other wounds. Our vet popped the dislocated joint back where it should be and cleaned up his wounds. While he was under anaesthetic, he was also neutered and microchipped. Six Dinner Sid is now on cage rest, with daily pain relief. There is a high chance that the joint will pop back out, and if this is the case, he will need surgery, but for now, he is resting and trying to heal.
We are asking for your help to pay for the veterinary care he received today. The bill comes to £448.96 so far which includes his x rays, castration and pain relief. If his hip does not hold, he will need surgery to fix it, but we are hoping he will not need this.
